Oyen
One man is dead following a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 9, west of Sybbald Sunday.
Oyen RCMP responded to the collision, with investigation revealing that a passenger car crossed the centre line and collided with a tractor trailer unit. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The lone male occupant of the car was seriously injured and transported to hospital, where he passed away as a result of his injuries.

Bashaw
High winds made for bad driving conditions on Sept. 2, that lead to a four-vehicle collision.
Police report that extremely high winds, combined with Calcium Chloride that occurs naturally along a portion of Highway 53 east of Bashaw was made airborne, causing reduced visibility in the area.
At the time of this weather event, four vehicle collision was reported with only minor injuries.
No tractor trailer unit was involved and there has been no chemical spill as originally reported to police.

Anzac
Officials discovered that legally owned and properly stored firearms had been stolen from an Anzac residence, after extinguishing a house fire.
The incident occurred on Aug. 29, at 3:30 a.m., with emergency officials responding to the house fire. No one was injured, but once the fire was extinguished the guns were discovered to have been stolen from the home.
In total, 13 handguns, one semi-automatic rifle, and a variety of other long barrel firearms were stolen. There were several antique, preSecond World War, long barrel firearms stolen.
The investigation is ongoing, involving RCMP forces, the National Weapons Enforcement SUpport Team, Wood Buffalo Emergency Services, and a provincially contracted fire investigator.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the firearms, or on the fire are asked to contact police.
