Minor hockey roundup: Bantam Hounds start season off 1-1

The Bantam AA Hounds opened their SCAHL season this weekend with a road trip to Sylvan Lake and Red Deer.

On Saturday the team played the West Central Tigers for a 4-0 loss.

Sunday saw the Hounds playing the Steel Kings in Red Deer for a 7-5 victory. The Hounds went down two goals early in the game, however they came out with the win.

Jack Vose scored two goals and had an assist, including the game winner with 3:09 remaining. Josh Drefs, Hunter Stimson and Luke Renschler each had a goal and assist. Bodee Weiss was in net and faced 44 shots.

The Hounds play this Sunday in Taber against the Golden Suns.

The Pee Wee Hounds opened their season with a 5-1 victory against Lethbridge Hurricans White. Zach Hermans, Dawson Seitz, Josh Vanmullige­n, Shane Smith and Dawson Stewart scored for the Hounds.

The Midget Hounds open their season Saturday in Airdrie against the Lightning.

The South East Athletic Club Tigers have opened their season with a record of zero wins, two losses and one tie.

The club lost its season opener to the Airdrie Xtreme 2-1, with Mason Mowat scoring the lone goal.

The Tigers then tied their home opener against the Okotoks Oilers 4-4. Jase Fleury, Roman Cherniak, Caleb Wyrostok and Vaughn Strutt score for the Tigers.

The club then dropped its third game of the year Sunday against the Calgary Bison. Wyrostok added the only goal for the local club.

The Tigers next game is Saturday against the Calgary Royals.

The minor midget AAA SEAC Tigers open their season Saturday against the NWCAA Bruins at 5:15 p.m. in Calgary.
