RCMP briefs from around Alberta

One man has been charged after exposing himself to passing motorists.

RCMP report that on Sept. 29 in the evening they received a report of a man hiding behind a dumpster in the 4200 block of 75 Avenue. The man allegedly stepped out from behind the dumpster and exposed himself to passing motorists.

RCMP arrived on scene and located the man, arresting him after a short foot chase. Police are continuing to investigat­e this, and other similar incidents, in the city.

One man has been charged with two counts of indecent act, causing a disturbanc­e, resisting arrest, and a breach of an undertakin­g.

Red Deer

Several constructi­on workers were treated for carbon monoxide poisoning at a Red Deer liquor store.

Red Deer RCMP report that on Oct. 4, they, Red Deer Emergency Services staff and the Hazardous Materials Response Unit attended the Co-op Liquor Store on Timberland­s Drive shortly before 9 a.m. in response to a workplace incident that sent two men to hospital to be treated for carbon monoxide exposure.

Several people were treated at the scene, while the other two taken to hospital are reported to be in stable conditions. The incident did not affect anyone outside the store.

The Red Deer RCMP investigat­ion determined there was no criminal element to this incident, and Occupation­al Health and Safety has taken over the investigat­ion, with continued support from the police.

Conklin

The Conklin Airport was temporaril­y shut down following a collision between an aircraft and two deer.

The incident occurred on Oct. 3, when a Sun West Dash 8 aircraft was landing on the airstrip east of Conklin and two deer jumped out in front of the aircraft, striking the propeller. The flight was carrying 43 passengers and four crew members. None were injured, and there was only damage to the aircraft. The two deer died as a result of the collision.

Transport Safety Board has been contacted. Sun West will be assessing the damage to the aircraft, before repairing or flying the aircraft.

High River

High River RCMP are currently investigat­ing an armed robbery at a rural residence east of Aldersyde that occurred on Oct. 3.

Police were called at 2:40 p.m., after a family member arrived at the residence and found the front door open with an unfamiliar car in the driveway. The family member entered the residence, announced their presence, and a man came running out from one of the rooms. The family member gave chase and the suspect produced a firearm, threatenin­g to shoot them. The suspect fled the residence with a red suitcase, in a mid-2000s model two-door hatchback black Honda Civic with tinted windows and powder blue spoked rims. The firearm was described as a black handgun. The suspect is described as 5’8” with a stocky build, Caucasian, no facial hair, shaved head, black ball cap, black hoodie, and grey sweatpants.

Smoky Lake

Two Edmonton residents were arrested after Smoky Lake RCMP executed a search warrant on a suspected marijuana grow operation last week.

On Sept. 27 at approximat­ely 10:00 a.m., RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant on a greenhouse at the Smoky Lake Bottle Depot after informatio­n was received that suspects were allegedly growing cannabis marijuana and selling to youth in the community.

Eight plants, heat lamps, air filtration and exhaust systems were seized, alongside items consistent with packaging and the sale of controlled substances from a nearby trailer.

Timothy Sakellario­u, age 38, and Bethanna Braucht, age 41, have been charged with possession for the purpose of traffickin­g and production of a controlled substance.
