Police investigate suspicious death in Lethbridge
Lethbridge Police are investigating a suspicious death after a 45year-old man was found inside his home Monday morning.
At about 7:20 a.m., EMS responded to a report in that city of an injured man inside a residence along the 1200 block of Ninth Avenue N. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and police were subsequently contacted.
The deceased has been identified as a 45-year-old Lethbridge resident.
The investigation remains in its early stages, LPS officials say. However, police have determined there is no ongoing public risk.
Just past 8 a.m. Monday, LPS officers had taped off the front entry to the house, as well as the alleyway behind. The Forensic Identification Unit arrived just after noon and were placing markers on the property’s driveway, near a side entrance and down the sidewalk toward 11 Street North. LPS was also using an unmanned aerial vehicle.
The duplex is located one house east of off 12 Street North.
A neighbour, who lives in an adjacent half of the duplex, said he called 911 at 7:19 a.m. after a woman who lives next door rang his doorbell seeking help.
The man, who didn’t want to be named, said he went in to the house and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. The neighbour, who said he has lived in his half of the duplex for about a year, said the male victim has lived on the other side with his wife and two younger children for about seven months.
If deemed a homicide, this would be the second one in Lethbridge in 2017.
