Daffodil Project in full swing for spring

-

While daffodil bulbs “sleep” through the winter, The Daffodil Project committee is already planning the next planting season, and you can now follow it on Facebook as well.

The goal for 2018 is to plant 30,000 daffodil bulbs and a possible spring celebration of Daffodil Days while they’re in bloom.

There has been generous support from businesses and the public, which have enthusiastically supported the concept.

The project depends on donations for purchasing bulbs, and every cent donated is used for bulbs. A donation of $150 buys about 700 bulbs.

The Daffodil Project has a goal of seeing a million bulbs planted by 2025 along the Trans-Canada Highway from Redcliff to Dunmore, about 10 kilometres. The purpose is simply to beautify the environment each spring.

Your help planting daffodil bulbs and enthusiasm for The Daffodil Project is much appreciated.

We are expanding our committee base and you are welcome to explore the opportunity. We only have four meetings a year and they last one hour. The input from committee members in extremely valuable in determining future planting sites, strategies to embark on for donations for bulbs, and exciting new directions.

Our committee meetings are open to the general public and you are most welcome to attend.

The next meeting takes place in March. Watch our Facebook, website and Twitter account for details early in 2018.

Donations for bulbs can be made through the project’s trust account at ATB Financial, account number 0732900410789600. Email a copy of your bank deposit slip for acknowledgment of the donation and your name recorded on the website. A donation can also be made in memory of a loved one.
