Tropics’ undefeated streak ends

-

The Medicine Hat Tropics had their 27-game undefeated streak to start to the under-14 A ringette season snapped in a nailbiter on Saturday.

Andie Suhai scored a pair and Delaney Mastel, Kayla Robinson and Julia Tweed added individual markers to keep the pressure on, but the Calgary Bowview AC/DC held on to escape with a 6-5 victory and hand Medicine Hat their first loss of the season.

While the setback dropped Medicine Hat to 27-1 on the season, they bounced right back later that evening with an 8-2 blowout over the Calgary Bowview Riot.

Despite falling into a 2-0 hole, the Tropics rallied for eight unanswered goals to clinch the victory thanks to a hat trick from Jaida Wallis and two-goal performances from Marin Sinclair and Mastel. Robinson rounded out the scoring with an individual goal.

The Tropics also competed in a pair of exhibition games on Sunday against the Regina Roar, opening on a 9-4 victory before closing out the doubleheader with a 6-6 tie.

The Medicine Hat Tropics continued their pursuit of perfection with two more victories on Saturday. The Calgary Bowview AC/DC gave the Tropics their closest call of the season in a 6-5 contest, but Medicine Hat prevailed before defeating the Bowview Riot 8-2 to push their undefeated streak to an incredible 29-0.
