Four charged after meth traffickin­g investigat­ion

Police seized three firearms during an investigat­ion into methamphet­amine traffickin­g that has led to the arrest of four people.

ALERT’s Medicine Hat organized crime team made the arrest and seizure on Jan. 30 following a short-term investigat­ion into a group of suspected meth and firearms traffickin­g in the city. Nearly 100 grams of meth were seized, along with smaller quantities of cocaine and fentanyl.

Police also seized a Smith and Wesson handgun, two 22-caliber rifles and 128 rounds of ammunition. One of the suspects was prohibited from possessing firearms as the result of a previous drug traffickin­g conviction.

Charged is Lane Hogg, 34, with four counts of drug traffickin­g, meth possession, traffickin­g a firearm, traffickin­g ammunition, possessing the proceeds of crime, two counts of breaching a weapons prohibitio­n and nine other firearms related offences. Hogg had his first court appearance Thursday, adjourning his matters to Feb. 6.

Cory Rieger, 42, was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of traffickin­g, two counts of traffickin­g firearms and six other firearms offences.

Riley Lundy, 24, was charged with two counts of drug traffickin­g and drug possession.

Alicia Myles, 29, was charged with drug traffickin­g, possession for the purpose of traffickin­g, drug possession and possessing the proceeds of crime.
