Avalanche snap skid, beat Oilers

EDMONTON J.T Compher scored in overtime as the Colorado Avalanche snapped a threegame losing skid with a 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.

Nikita Zadorov, Blake Comeau and Samuel Girard also scored for the Avalanche (28-18-4), who had a 10-game winning streak before going on their recent skid.

Connor McDavid had a pair of goals and Drake Caggiula also responded for the Oilers (22-24-4), who have lost two of their last three.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS 3, JETS 2, OT

WINNIPEG — David Perron scored 3:57 into overtime to lead the Vegas Golden Knights past the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 on Thursday.

Vegas’s 34 wins are the most in the debut season of an NHL expansion team.

The Jets had the puck rolling in the crease three times in overtime, but it didn’t get over the line. Perron then fired a high shot past goalie Connor Hellebuyck to win the game.

Winnipeg winger Kyle Connor had tied the game with a high shot to Marc-Andre Fleury’s glove side with 2:36 left in the third period.

OTTAWA — Erik Karlsson scored 32 seconds into overtime to lift Ottawa over Anaheim and snap a six-game skid.

NEW YORK — Curtis McElhinney stopped 25 shots to give Toronto its second straight shutout, this time over New York.

HURRICANES 2, CANADIENS 0

RALEIGH, N.C. — Cam Ward stopped 27 shots in his second shutout of the season, and Carolina beat Montreal.
