Kitscoty

One person suffered minor injuries caused by a firearm after being shot at from another vehicle.

On March 4, 2018, Kitscoty RCMP responded to a report of shots fired from a moving vehicle near Range Road 20 and Highway 619. They located and pulled over a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed, and discovered one of the vehicle’s occupants had a minor injury caused by a firearm. It’s alleged that a separate vehicle swerved at this vehicle in an intersection. They followed the vehicle and attempted to stop it, when one of its occupants inside shot a firearm, hitting their vehicle before fleeing the area. The victim’s injury was non-life threatening and treated at hospital.

The suspect vehicle was located abandoned east of Lloydminster and was reported stolen during the evening of March 3 while running with the keys inside.

RCMP would like to remind vehicle owners that thefts are crimes of opportunity and can happen to anyone at anytime. People should also not attempt to pursue or subdue suspicious individuals due to the risk involved.

Kitscoty RCMP continue to investigate and believe this was not a random act.
