Dawgs dazzle at Mega tourney

The Notre Dame Academy Dawgs defended home court with impressive results at the weekend’s Colts/Dawgs Mega Badminton Tournament, which welcomes schools from across the province.

The Dawgs took home top spot in five of 15 categories to earn the title of aggregate champions at the event.

Notre Dame’s Kailey Duscherer and Libby Bourassa combined to win the midget girls doubles event, MacKenzie Duscherer clinched the juvenile girls single title and Francine Suba took home the midget girls singles championsh­ip. The Dawgs also left the court with a pair of bantam-level victories, though full names were not available from that event.

The tournament was cohosted by the St. Mary’s Colts, and they too worked their way to a title with Brady Ulmer and Duncan Markie winning the midget boys doubles event.

Wyatt Davis, of Brooks, won the midget boys singles event and Irvine’s Kierra Zentner & Axton Ferguson took the midget mixed doubles title.

Rosemary’s Nicholas Miller won the juvenile boys singles title and Preslee Muller and Neah Salazar, of Taber, took the juvenile girls doubles event. Chinook left with a pair of victories as well, with Logan Christie and Jarom Court winning the juvenile boys doubles and Sydney Whiting and Isaac Campmans taking the mixed doubles title.
