MHRA hosting Come Try Ringette event Sunday

-

Medicine Hat Ringette Association is opening its doors to the next generation of talent Sunday at the Family Leisure Centre.

Players between the ages of four and 18 are invited to hit the ice for MHRA’s annual Come Try Ringette Day, which club president Ryan Klick says he hopes will draw more kids onto the ice come fall.

“We would really like to see kids from all ages come try the sport of ringette and these come try it events give everyone the opportunity to experience what the sport has to offer,” said Klick.

“Not only is ringette rewarding for the players, it is also a very enjoyable sport to watch for parents, grandparents and other family members.”

Players will be need to bring a helmet, skates and gloves, while sticks and instruction will be provided. The action gets underway at 2:15 p.m. MHRA also recently announced the introduction of the Optimist Club Active Start Program, which partners with Platinum Star Power Skating to offer skills clinics to all first-year players born in 2012, 2013 or 2014. The program is set to begin in September. Visit www.mhringette.com for more details. “MHRA’s Active Start program is dedicated to introducing young athletes to the sport,” said Klick. “The goal is these young athletes can learn and develop with the sport as they grow up and hopefully fall in love with ringette like so many other players have.”
