Head to Kin Coulee for all things Canada Day

Medicine Hat’s annual Canada Day celebratio­n will once again take place at Kin Coulee Park, with a number of familyfrie­ndly events for Hatters to enjoy.

According to the Medicine Hat and District Canada Day Society’s website and Facebook page, the day will be kicking off bright and early with the annual pancake breakfast at the park, which will be served by the Lions Club of Medicine Hat.

Hayrides throughout the park and 50/50 tickets will be available starting at 9:30 a.m. Tickets for the 50/50 draw are 10 for $5, with the draw taking place at 9:30 p.m. at the Sandfly Festival.

From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., free children’s activities will be offered at the Kin Coulee Circle. There will be a bouncy castle, medieval play, a food court, a hobby and craft market place and more.

Birthday cake will be served from noon until 1 p.m. by the Rotary Club of Medicine Hat, and there will be a taste and decoration contest.

The South Alberta Pipes and Drums will arrive to play at 1:30 p.m., and will be playing throughout the afternoon around the park.

There will be a number of activities and presentati­ons at the bandshell, including a puppet demonstrat­ion, performers and the opening ceremonies, which take place at noon.

ZedFest is taking place from 15 p.m., and features the Rusty Pistols, 3 Hole Punch, For A Life Unburdened and Taking August. Each act gets an hour.

The Sandfly Festival runs from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Fireworks will start at 11:15 p.m.
