Hens stay unbeaten in league despite short bench

-

With five players missing from their lineup, the Medicine Hat Mud Hens ringette team managed an unbeaten weekend in Calgary.

The under-16 A side improved to 5-0-1 in league play with a come-from-behind win followed by a tie Saturday.

Against the Bow View Surge, the Mud Hens trailed 3-2 after the first period but rallied for a 5-4 win. Kylie Kallenberger and Amanda Robinson each scored twice with Allison Mason adding the other goal.

Medicine Hat then tied the Northwest RBML team 2-2 in a game four hours later. RBML didn’t have an earlier game to recover from but the Mud Hens, led by goalie Sydney Carlson, avoided their first loss. Kallenberger scored one of the goals but a report from the team didn’t mention who had the other.

The Hens host an under-14 AA team Saturday in a pair of games. They’ll match up at the Moose Recreation Centre at 10 a.m., then at the Kinplex at 1 p.m.

Under-10

Medicine Hat’s Eliminators under-10 team had a pair of home games Saturday against Cochrane, playing hard but taking losses on the scoreboard.

In the first, Cochrane won 6-4. Netminder Sadie Berstad stood tall for the Eliminators while teammates Breanna Rugg (two goals), Ravyn Lehr and Margo Kerr scored.

Different players found the back of the net for Medicine Hat in the second game, but Cochrane won 11-4. Leighton Wright, Sadie Berstad, Kensington Provost and Sutton Provost all scored in a losing effort while Jordyn LeBlanc was in net against a high-powered Cochrane offence.
