Anyone looking to purchase a new home and to do a bit of fundraising may be able to hit two birds with one stone next month.

Gary Demke and Randy Liske purchased the lot for 22 Somerset Cove years ago and are putting the finishing touches on the house with the hopes of flipping it and donating the proceeds to India for a children’s hospital.

“We started this years ago with a house just down the block and we were able to send $50,000 to India and they were able to start construction on this big, beautiful hospital,” said Liske. “We then did another house just three down from this one we’re finishing and were able to send some more money to help with the second floor of the hospital.

“This house we’re selling now will hopefully go towards the fourth floor.”

The men buy lots and build the houses with their own funds and then donate all of the proceeds to the cause in India.

“When you’re there you can really see a need,” said Liske. “We’ve been to India and we’ve seen not only the need, but the great work that people are doing to help people.

“This is our way of helping out children in a different country who need the help.”

The house is a 1244-sq.-ft. bungalow with a fully-developed lower level and covered decks. It has a multi-vehicle garage, a pie-shaped yard and RV parking.

The men agree it would be a good retirement house as there is only one flight of stairs in a nice part of the city.

“This is a beautiful house and it’s a great deal,” said Demke. “This is on a great piece of land that we bought years ago and we’ve got a really nice house here.

“I think whoever buys this will be very happy and we hope to raise a lot of money to donate.”

The open house is being held April 6 and 7.
