Locally owned All-Niter has switch over to Esso brand

-

The “All-Niter Snack Shop” has been a local family owned and operated business for 37 years on South Railway Street and has a commitment to a high caliber of service. We would like to thank all of our loyal customers for supporting us through these trying times right now, as well as in all the good times in the past. A little history of the business, it started when Eldon and Marlene Wells purchased the AllNiter Convenience store in 1983, which was located in the Bison building on South Railway Street. After buying the properties next to it they built a convenience store in 1986 and added gas pumps in 1989. This was the first 24 hour convenience store in Medicine Hat, operated earlier by the late Herb Kenny, hence the name “The All-Niter” and we were open 24 hours a day for the first 16 years.

The City of Medicine Hat then notified us of its intention to twin the overpass making access to their location more challenging, so Eldon went down the street and bought four lots, and in

1999, built a new and brighter gas station and convenience store, with “Marlene’s Costume Shop” right beside, at 1033 South Railway Street. In 2003 Eldon and Marlene built and operated “Track Side Liquor store”. In 2006, we decided to try and retire, selling the All-Niter to Eldon’s oldest son, Travis, who has worked at the store since he was 12 years old, and his family, and Track Side Liquor store to Paul Howe.

The new “All-Niter Esso” at 1033 South Railway Street S.E. in Medicine Hat, is still locally owned and operated by Travis and is open daily from 6 am to 10 pm. It is conveniently located across from the Redi Bottle Depot. Travis, his wife Denell, Matthew, Fred and Eldon all practice Social Distancing, disinfect pumps continuously, and all staff have “Corona Virus Covid 19 Action Plan for the Work Place” certificates.
