Environmental 360 Solutions acquires Waste Watchers

-

A waste management company that arrived in Medicine Hat originally to handle the municipal curbside recycling pickup has now purchased a substantial foothold in the construction waste sector.

Environmental 360 Solutions acquired Waste Watchers, a locally based family owned service that specializes in bin delivery, pickup and disposal as well as commercial contracts.

“Waste Watchers will fit synergistically into our existing Medicine Hat operation and will allow E360S to expand its customer base while continuing to provide customers exceptional service,” stated Toronto-based E360S CEO Danny Ardellini in a press release in mid-June announcing the acquisition.

He said the change expands the company’s offerings and footprints while aligning the two firms’ operations.

The company entered the Alberta market in late 2018 purchasing Red Deer-based CanPak Environmental, which had won the Medicine Hat curbside recycling contract earlier that year.

The city and company parted ways in the fall of 2019 after E360S requested the contract be re-negotiated to account for depressed resale prices on recyclable material.

Waste Watchers was founded in 2004 by Barry and Lynette Gregory and since then has promoted itself as the only 100 per cent locally owned option in Medicine Hat.

The company’s bins and vehicles are present at the

E360S facility in Brier Park, which formerly housed material sorting facilities for the municipal recycling program.

Recent Waste Watcher owners, Angie and Troy Gregory, are quoted in the release saying the acquisition is “a great fit for the Waste Watchers team as both (companies) have strong community values and the same customer-focused mindset.”

“The combination… (with) E360S’s resources will enable our employees to continue to provide outstanding customer service.”
