Two Alberta Mounties have been charged following separate investigations by the RCMP.

Police say in a news release that an officer from the Edson detachment is facing two counts of uttering threats, one count of assault and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

It’s alleged that Const. Ryan Deroche, who is 34, threatened a woman at her home on Sept. 14 when he was off duty.

Police say Deroche, an eight-year member of the RCMP, has been suspended with pay and is to be in court on Nov. 3.

An officer from Fort McMurray has also been charged with one count of assault with a weapon.

Const. Joshua Jackson, who is 25, allegedly threw a cellphone at a woman on Sept. 17, and she was treated and released from hospital.

Police say he was also off duty at the time, but was immediately moved from his patrol duties into an administrative role.

Jackson, who has been with the RCMP for five months, will be in Wood Buffalo provincial court on Tuesday.
