Gas going up, power going down

The price of natural gas will rise for utility customers in Medicine Hat this month, while power prices edge lower.

Rates published Tuesday show that gas for heating homes and small to medium businesses will be $3.14 per gigajoule, up about 89 cents from October.

As well, the power rate settled to 5.95 cents per kilowatt hour, down 2.5-cents from the previous month.

Medicine Hat sets its rates at the average of default pricing offered across the province.

Comparable gas prices for November were $3.005 from AltaGas and $3.28 from Direct Energy.

The high and low prices for power in the province for November were 5.76-cents from Enmax and 6.14-cents from Epcor in Edmonton.
