The Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede has postponed its Christmas Farmers Market.

“The numbers in the city are rising and we don’t know where we’ll be at this weekend,” said market coordinator Doreen Gunderson. “We’ve decided to postpone it now, rather than waiting until Friday to see where things are at.

“We’re just trying to keep everyone safe.”

The market has been pushed back to the weekend of Dec. 5 and 6. This is the same weekend that the Old Tyme Christmas Market takes place. The Christmas market will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.

Gunderson says the Stampede board is hoping cases will be lower by the time the new date rolls around.

People can follow the Stampede on social media to get updates.
