HEC Montréal’s BBA program delivers a world of opportunity

-

When it comes to selecting an institute for higher learning, prospective students have a lot to think about. Along with the need for a stimulating environment and a well-rounded program, applicants are also looking for an establishment that will effectively prepare them for the job market and help them secure a desired position. Montreal’s HEC — L’École des hautes études commerciales — delivers on all those levels. Its BBA (bachelor of business administration) degree is one of the most successful and recognized programs in the country.

Founded in 1907, HEC Montréal has created an international reputation for itself thanks to its exceptional teaching and research practices, as well as its commitment to maintain an innovative and relevant approach. It was the first business school in North America to receive the three most prestigious accreditations in its field: the AACSB International, the AMBA and the EQUIS.

“Our goal is to provide a stimulating and exciting environment where students are really challenged intellectually while also learning all the essential material they need to pursue a successful career,” said Gilbert Babin, program director for HEC Montréal’s BBA program. “We provide them with many exciting options that help them to develop the critical skills that will make them an absolute asset to prospective employers.”

In today’s global business climate, proficiency in more than one language is a key quality for embarking upon a successful career. At HEC Montréal, students are able to select three different language options. They can choose to pursue their degree completely in French, they can embark upon a bilingual study program in French and English, or they can elect to study in the trilingual stream and take classes in French, English and Spanish. Along with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, those in the multiple language streams will also receive BBA bilingual or trilingual certification.

On campus, HEC Montréal is committed to providing students with an exceptional education. First-year business administration courses are small, with classes never exceeding 75 students. Stu- dents are also given the opportunity to become well-acquainted with their classmates, as 10 out of the first 12 courses are shared by the same peer group.

The institute’s strong core curriculum, which features training in all management aspects, enables students to pursue the specialization of their liking with absolutely no restriction. The cam- pus also provides for a lively and stimulating student life, with a variety of clubs and organisations that students can join to become further involved.

HEC Montréal also has two extremely interesting options that permit students to broaden their learning experience offcampus. Thanks to 100 partner establishments located in 34 countries throughout Europe, Asia and South America, students have the opportunity to spend a term abroad, expanding their cultural horizons while earning credits to their degree. Due to the extensive selection of partner institutes, students are able to create an educational experience that perfectly matches their needs and their desires.

Students are also able to take part in the innovative Campus Abroad program. Accompanied by an instructor, students spend two weeks abroad, immersing themselves in an international business context that enables them to grasp the cultural, political and socioeconomic realities of another region. The Campus Abroad program in Brazil, for example, has become a continuing yearly project, where students evaluate the needs of the community, help to determine priorities and to manage the year’s most important activities.

HEC Montréal is committed to providing its students with an exceptional educational experience that not only prepares them for exciting career opportunities but also broadens their cultural horizons.
