SAFE HAVEN (G) Director Lasse Hallström has made a deal with the devil. Worse. Hallström has made a deal with Hallmark — metaphorically speaking — with his latest film, based on Nicholas Sparks’s tearjerker. The film is about a woman on the run, the fixated cop chasing her and the new stud who seeks to romance her, but it is all so contrived, manipulative, hokey and predictable. 116 mins. BB ★ ½

*SNITCH (13+) Dwayne Johnson brings his genial lack of charisma to this sort-of-true tale about a father who volunteers to become a government informer to help free his son from a drug charge. The setup never takes advantage of Johnson’s main asset — his fearsome size — and the drama is frittered away in a repetitive car chase. 112 mins.
