Harper parody site wants money

- JORDAN PRESS

The Conservative federal government didn’t register the Internet domain name economicactionplan.ca, so someone else scooped up the URL earlier this year.

And the site’s message isn’t exactly complimentary to Stephen Harper’s policies. Videos posted there parody the government’s Economic Action Plan ads.

The parody website is the creation of the people behind a three-year-old anti-Tory site, s**tharperdid.ca. They hope to have their mock ads shown on television if they can raise the money.

They say they need $90,000, and are soliciting donations through the website.

The website also notes that it wants to promote public debate about “radical economic solutions” with input from “some of the countries (sic) most influential progressive economists and community organizers.

“This summer, together we can educate millions of people across the country about the true state of eco- nomic injustice in our communities,” the group writes in its plea for donations.

S**tharperdid.ca was launched during the 2011 federal election campaign with the aim of engaging Canadians who hadn’t voted in the past.

Meanwhile, it appears the URL economicactionplan.com is still available.
