Citrus notes bring exceptional balance
Rioja 2013, Genoli, Ijalba, Spain white, $15.45, SAQ #883033. The grape is viura. Despite a recent price hike of more than $1, still a great buy. Same lemon/lime freshness, and as always a very comfortable acidity. The 2013 seems more singularly driven along citrus notes and less mineral, perhaps a touch more simple. But the balance here is exceptional. Pure and easy. Serve at 8-10 C. Drink now. Food-pairing idea: apéritif, ceviche, raw oysters, goat cheese salads.
