How to rev up the all-star game

Re: “Mackinnon’s stock is on the upswing” (Sports, Nov. 19) If the NHL wants to try something innovative to make the all-star game more interestin­g, they should play the first period 6-on-6, the second period 5-on-5 and the third period 4-on-4.

That would give fans, players and management a good comparison of all three formats and would maintain interest into the third period — something that has been lacking in prior all-star games, which tend to be sleepers.
