Chekov character won’t be recast
Star Trek Beyond is the final appearance of actor Anton Yelchin in the role of Ensign Pavel Chekov. And it will be the last appearance of the character, too. Producer J.J. Abrams told the Toronto Sun the Chekov role won’t be recast for his planned fourth Star Trek film. “I would say there’s no replacing him,” Abrams said of Russian-born Yelchin, who died June 19 in a freak car accident. “I can’t possibly imagine that, and I think (Yelchin) deserves better.”
