Not offended by catalogues
Re: “Why only send French catalogues?” (Letters, Aug. 22) When more than 80 per cent of the people in this province are francophone, and the majority of the rest are fluently or functionally bilingual, it just makes sense to send a French publication.
And the websites for Videotron and Ikea are bilingual.
As an anglo immigrant to this province, I’ve found that the best way to get along is to go along, and to speak or read French when I have to. The problem isn’t Frenchonly catalogues, it’s people who object when the English on some sign is too big, or when their Ikea catalogue is in French. Brian McIntyre, Beaconsfield
