Depp-Heard lawyers carry on their feud

- DOUG CAMILLI tellcamilli@gmail.com

First, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp had a divorce fight, as she claimed physical and emotional abuse. Then he agreed to pay her US$7 million, and she declared the abuse claims inoperative. She promised to give all the money to charity.

Then Depp’s spokesman called “Ms. Heard’s generosity … deeply respected,” and said Johnny would send the money directly to her charities, the American Civil Liberties Unions and the Children’s Hospital of L.A., and had already made initial payments. TMZ summed it all up rhetorically: “Everybody happy now?”

Umm, no. The hospital said it hadn’t received anything, and now Heard’s people are steamed: this way he, not she, gets the 50-per-cent tax deduction for charitable donations.

Therefore, her lawyers are saying, he’d better donate $14 million, and all at once, not over many years. Maybe she’ll sue.

James Corden, host of The Late Late Show on CBS, tells Rolling Stone about growing up chubby, in England:

“If you’re big at school … you’re going to be a target. If you go to school and you’re me, you go, ‘Right, I’m just going to make myself a bigger target. My confidence, it will terrify them.’ That’s how I felt in school”.

Sure, he went on, he was “terrified” inside, “but if you’re a bit funny, if you’re quicker than them, they won’t circle back on you again.”

He also said he’s lost 85 pounds lately.

“I’ve cut out sugar and bread, and eat only at mealtimes now,” he told The Daily Mirror.

He’s 38.

Usain Bolt may win another medal, in partying. In London, the Jamaican sprinter took “about 10” young women and fewer male friends back to his hotel to continue a late-night party the other night, People mag says. He did the same the next night.

Monday, the mag says, Bolt was at trendy Cirque le Soir until 5:45 a.m., then adjourned to the unnamed hotel.

The next night it was Tape, a club in Mayfair where he arrived at about 1 a.m. and stayed until around 4:30 a.m. “Everyone else in the club was asked to leave around 3:30 a.m.,” the source said, “but Usain and a big group of ladies … had the whole club to themselves.”

“He just looked really happy. He was in really good spirits and just smiling all the time.” You bet.

He just turned 30.

Sarah Jessica Parker has cancelled her endorsement deal with Mylan, the pharmaceutical company in hot water for jacking up the U.S. price of the EpiPen, the injector gadget carried by people with severe allergies. (In Canada, the price has reportedly hardly changed since 2009.)

Parker’s teen son James (with Matthew Broderick) has a potentially fatal allergy to peanuts and carries an EpiPen, so Parker was happy to accept an endorsement contract.

But now she’s “disappointed, saddened and deeply concerned by Mylan’s actions. I do not condone this decision and I have ended my relationship with Mylan.”

She’s 51. James is 13.
