FOR THE RECORD
Due to reporting errors, an article that appeared in Thursday’s Montreal Gazette stated incorrectly that family doctor Albert Benhaïm had his right to practice medicine suspended “again” after being found guilty on Sept. 7 of obstructing an investigation by the Collège des médecins. In fact, he was suspended only once, on a provisional basis, in October 2015 and while he was found guilty of obstruction, the Collège disciplinary committee has yet to impose a sanction. In addition, the disciplinary committee did not qualify the obstruction as “abusive,” but as “passive-aggressive.” The Gazette regrets the errors. Also, the decision by the disciplinary committee did not relate to “extra billing” or his practice as such, but rather to the doctor’s refusal to hand over documents related to laboratory tests charged to a patient, in an investigation looking into a complaint about the billing practice.
Due to incorrect information provided to the Montreal Gazette, a story about lead pipes published Aug. 1 said that lead water service lines are still found in Town of Mount Royal. The municipality now says that as far as it knows, all its lead service lines were replaced by 2006.
