Police aim to identify victims of sex crimes
The Montreal police believe a man charged on Friday with several counts alleging he forced two women into prostitution has other victims.
Emmanuel Stark, 43, appeared before Quebec Court Judge Serge Delisle at the Montreal courthouse on Friday, where he faces a total of 20 charges. Delisle ordered that he remain detained for a bail hearing to be held on Monday.
Among the charges he’s facing are allegations he used a weapon to sexually assault two women. He’s also charged with threatening the women and exercising control over their lives, and holding them against their will between Dec. 1, 2016 and Feb. 8, 2017. Another charge alleges he placed ads offering their “sexual services” during the same time frame.
According to a release issued by police on Friday, Stark is also known by the nickname “PacMan.”
“To commit his crimes the (alleged) pimp chose vulnerable people that he targeted close to Place Émilie- Gamelin (a park near the Berri-UQAM métro station frequented by drug addicts). He held them against their will at his residence for several days, where they were (allegedly) beaten, assaulted and forced into prostitution,” Montreal police stated in the release.
They also allege that Stark took photos of the two women, who are in their 30s, and published them on websites advertising the services of escorts.
Police are asking anyone with information about Stark to call 911.
