Police arrest suspect in downtown stabbing

A 27-year-old man was stabbed Saturday night in downtown Montreal, and a suspect was arrested early Sunday morning. At about 8:10 p.m., a man who is known to police was stabbed at the intersecti­on of de Maisonneuv­e Blvd. and Berri St. Despite suffering serious injuries, he escaped by car and went to a hospital, where the police found him. He’s now in stable condition. At around 3:15 a.m., a 22-year-old suspect, also known to police, was apprehende­d. The motive for the attack isn’t known.
