Canadian divers leap to podium

Jennifer Abel and new partner Melissa CitriniBeaulieu won gold in the synchro three-metre springboard at a FINA Grand Prix diving event Sunday in Rostock, Germany. Abel and CitriniBeaulieu were the second new Canadian team to win a medal Sunday after Meaghan Benfeito and Caeli McKay won silver in 10-metre platform. Abel, a two-time Olympic from Laval, Que., was pleased her new partnership with Citrini-Beaulieu, a 21-year-old from SaintConstant, Que., started strong as they collected 304.08 points. Montreal’s Benfeito, who had a long partnership with recently retired Roseline Filion, and Calgary’s McKay finished with 301.80 points.
