Police identify body found along Highway 13 in Laval
Police have confirmed the identity of the man who was reportedly beaten, kidnapped and found lifeless by the side of Highway 13 in Laval Tuesday morning.
Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Sgt. Joyce Kemp says Kellen Seow — a 34-year-old from Montreal — was killed in what appears to be a drug-related homicide.
The SQ would not say if the victim is known to police, but court documents show that a 34-yearold Montrealer named Kellen Seow was sentenced in 2008 to 24 months probation after he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and uttering threats.
Police responded to a call at 11:30 a.m. about a man who appeared seriously wounded lying on the side of the northbound lanes of the highway, between Highways 440 and 640. When they arrived, the man was dead.
Roughly 20 minutes earlier, witnesses say, that same man was surrounded by four men, beaten and forced into a car parked outside a breakfast restaurant in nearby SteDorothée. His body was found only three kilometres up the highway.
The major crimes unit of the Sûreté du Québec began the investigation, with the aid of the Laval police force, before turning it over to the SQ’s crimes against persons division, Kemp said.
The cause of death, as well as the motive for the homicide, are still under investigation. Police could not say if the man was dead before his body was dumped from the car.
The slaying and ensuing investigation forced the closure of the northbound lanes of Highway 13 for five hours, causing extensive traffic backups. The highway was reopened to traffic at 4:20 p.m.
