Motorist critically injured in head-on crash with bus

A 60-year-old motorist was in critical condition Thursday evening with life-threatenin­g injuries after his car collided head-on with an STM bus on Avon Rd. at Westminste­r Ave. in Montreal West Thursday morning.

The incident occurred at about 8:05 a.m. According to witnesses, the car was travelling west on Avon Rd. when it swerved into the oncoming lane and collided head on with an eastbound STM bus. The 50-year-old driver of the bus was being treated for nervous shock and one passenger was slightly injured.

Police examined the possibilit­ies that the driver may have suddenly suffered a health issue or lost control of his vehicle at the time of the crash.
