Theatre school gets $3M for renovations
The National Theatre School of Canada, a training ground for theatre talent that has headquarters on St-Denis St., got a substantial financial boost on Thursday to help with renovations at its main campus.
The federal government announced $1.5 million in funding for the renovations, a sum matched by the Quebec government. As well as the $3 million in government funding, the school itself will contribute $500,000 toward this second phase of revitalization that began in 2012.
The money will contribute to the refurbishment of the Annex, which is linked to the main building. The renovations include adding an elevator and improvements to plumbing and washrooms, electrical wiring, ventilation and windows.
The school has an enrolment of about 170 students.
