What’s open and closed for Canada Day weekend

Here are the details about what will be open and what will be closed in Montreal over the Canada Day weekend.

Municipal government offices, including Access Montreal offices and Montreal’s municipal court, will be closed Saturday-Monday.

Provincial government offices will be closed Friday-Sunday.

Federal government offices will be closed Monday.

Most banks will be closed throughout the weekend and on Monday.

Malls and large stores, including the Montreal Eaton Centre, Les Cours Mont-Royal and Place Montreal Trust, will be closed on Saturday.

Some smaller businesses will be open, including restaurant­s, gas stations, bookstores, antique shops, florists and grocery stores.

SAQ locations will be open regular hours. There will be no SAQ. com deliveries on July 3.

Many pharmacies, including Jean Coutu locations, will be open, but possibly with limited staff and holiday hours over the weekend.

Public markets, including JeanTalon, Atwater, Lachine and Maisonneuv­e, will be open Saturday.

The STM and the AMT commuter trains will be running on their regular weekend schedules.

Garbage and recycling collection in Montreal will not be affected by the holiday.

Mail will not be collected or delivered by Canada Post on Monday. However, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.

Montreal’s Biodôme, Insectariu­m, Botanical Garden and the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetariu­m will be open.

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and Pointe-à-Callière, Montreal’s archeology and history complex, will be open.

The city’s eco-centres will be open on Saturday, but closed Sunday and Monday.

Some sports complexes, arenas and gyms will be closed Friday, while others will close Saturday or Monday. It’s best to check individual schedules.

Most indoor city pools and libraries will be closed Saturday, but its best to check individual schedules because there are some variations.

Outdoor city pools will be open Saturday, but closed on Monday.

Parking meters and parking restrictio­ns are unchanged by the holiday.
