South Shore homes of Habs captain, TV stars robbed
Police say there’s no reason to believe celebrities are being targeted by thieves
Thieves burgled the South Shore homes of Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty and Quebec television stars Véronique Cloutier and Louis Morissette in the last week, but Longueuil police said there’s no indication that wellknown Quebec personalities who live in “prestigious homes” are being targeted.
An expensive watch and some cash were stolen from Pacioretty’s Brossard home during a break-in, TVA news reported on Wednesday.
An arrest has been made in at least one of the cases, and the suspect will likely face criminal charges, said Constable Marie Beauvais-Lavoie, a spokesperson for the Longueuil police.
Beauvais-Lavoie refused to confirm that Pacioretty and Cloutier were victims of the break-ins. Pacioretty sold his 16,000-squarefoot mansion in Brossard’s exclusive Domaines de la Rive-Sud neighbourhood for $2 million last month.
The home had been on the market since March. He has purchased another house in the Montreal region, but hasn’t yet moved out of his Brossard home.
In March, Pacioretty’s real estate agent Joseph Montanaro promoted the house in an interview with the Montreal Gazette and several pictures of the luxurious house were published online.
He said the house has a high-tech security system, four bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen and a “spectacular” wine cellar.
Montanaro said the theft won’t make him rethink his strategy of promoting the homes of his highprofile clients in the media.
“Break-ins can happen anywhere. They happen in Westmount all the time in houses that aren’t listed,” he said. “If someone wants to break in to a house bad enough, they can do it.”
