What’s open and closed on Labour Day weekend

Here’s a partial list of what’s open and closed on Labour Day:

Federal and provincial government offices will be closed.

Most city of Montreal offices will be closed, including borough offices, Accès Montréal and other points of service. The municipal courthouse on Gosford St. will also be closed. City of Montreal boroughs will maintain regular garbage and recycling pickups, but some specialize­d pickups will be cancelled or postponed.

The city’s ecocentres will maintain regular summer hours. Banks will be closed. Public arenas, swimming pools, libraries, sports centres and cultural centre schedules will have various opening hours. For details and schedules, check with your borough or with the facilities directly. The Claude Robillard sports centre and outdoor tennis courts will be closed. For informatio­n, call 514-872-6900.

Public markets, including Jean-Talon, Maisonneuv­e and Atwater, will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Bonsecours Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Retail stores and malls will be closed, but some stores might be open, including restaurant­s, gas stations, book stores, antique shops and florists.

Small grocery stores might be open, including dépanneurs. Most larger grocery stores will be closed, except for a select few in tourism regions (Bromont and Mont-Tremblant, for example).

Most SAQ stores will be open, but not those located in closed shopping centres. You can find a location near you by visiting the SAQ’s website: saq.com.

Pharmacies might be open, but with reduced staff.

The Pointe-à-Callière Museum and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will be open. The Biodôme will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Botanical Garden and the Insectariu­m will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetariu­m will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more informatio­n, call 514-872-1400.

The STM will be running on a holiday schedule. Visit stm.info for more informatio­n.

RTM commuter trains will run on Sunday schedules. There will be no service on the Mont-St-Hilare, Candiac and Mascouche lines.

Parking meters are operationa­l and parking restrictio­ns apply.
