Ailing Lady Gaga pulls out of Bell Centre concert
There was a silver lining for the Lady Gaga fans turned aside at the Bell Centre Monday night.
Though many were miffed by the last-minute cancellation of the pop star’s show, Gaga took to Twitter to let her fans know that she was sending free pizza to anyone who showed up at the William Gray Montréal hotel where she was staying.
“I love you so much & I’m so sorry (you) are the most loyal fans,” Gaga tweeted.
The singer bowed out of her Bell Centre show just hours before the concert Monday, citing an illness she caught during an outdoor show in New York last week.
“To my beautiful fans. I couldn’t be more devastated that I am unable to perform tonight,” she wrote in a Tweet posted at 5:08 p.m . ... I sing this entire show live, and pride myself on giving it all, but when I sang in the rain at Citi Field I got sick and have been pushing through.”
Promoters Live Nation and Evenko confirmed the cancellation of Monday’s show.
“Hoping not to disappoint her fans, Lady Gaga took today to rest but unfortunately has now been instructed by her doctor that she will need to reschedule this evening’s show due to respiratory infection and laryngitis.”
“As the tour is currently working on rescheduling the performance, fans should hold on to their existing tickets pending additional information,” the promoters added.
