Project of the Week: Symphonia POP

- SPONSORED BY DÉVELOPPEMENTS SYMPHONIA

Just a stone’s throw from Montreal’s downtown core, Nuns’ Island offers a unique and prestigious community steeped in natural wonders. This distinctive setting was one of the main reasons Développements Symphonia chose the area for its signature project.

Completed in 2014, Symphonia’s first phase, which combined refined design, high-end amenities and customizable units, was lauded by buyers. Now with the unveiling of the second tower, Symphonia POP, construction is slated to begin next year, and Développements Symphonia is positioning the project as a game-changer for the community.

“We truly believe that the addition of this signature tower will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Nuns’ Island,” said Symphonia’s Kevin Robinson. “In 2020, when construction is finished and delivery takes place, it’s going to be a new era.”

NEIGHBOURHOOD

With its tree-lined streets and long stretches of waterfront views, Nuns’ Island is a mere 10-minute drive from Montreal. Its location will allow Symphonia POP buyers to enjoy many green spaces, including beautiful parks. There’s also biking and walking paths spanning much of the community, and residents will be near the luxurious Nuns’ Island Golf, tennis courts and Strom Spa.

Public transit is not an issue for Symphonia POP residents. With the brand new light rail opening in 2021, residents will be able to commute from Nuns’ Island to downtown in a matter of minutes.

DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE

Développements Symphonia commissioned Provencher Roy, an internationally renowned Montrealbased architecture firm, to create the Symphonia POP concept. Provencher Roy’s architects are behind some iconic designs praised in Canada and around the world, including the recent renovation of the sumptuous RitzCarlton Montreal, the modernization of the Montreal Casino and the new Champlain Bridge, which will be completed in 2018.

“The idea was to create a unique and innovative design that looks towards the future, while respecting and blending with the surrounding buildings at the same time,” said architect Roch Cayouette, Provencher Roy’s team lead.

The articulated city-side design is complemented by the smooth curved glass on the river-view façade. In many ways, this gracefully shaped building is equal parts art and real estate, poised to change the face of the riverfront on Nuns’ Island.

RESIDENCES

Located on the southern tip of the island, the new building will feature 240 units on 32 floors and will be connected to the base of the first Symphonia tower, for easy indoor access to all amenities.

From one- to four- bedrooms, there will be a variety of floor plans and layouts for buyers to choose from. Units will range from 600 to 3,000 square feet. Penthouse apartments with spacious rooftop terraces and a select number of two-storey residences will surely appeal to even the most fastidious buyers. All units will offer impressive views of either downtown Montreal or the St. Lawrence River.
