What’s open and closed on holiday Monday

Here’s a list of what’s open and closed on Monday:

Municipal government offices, including Access Montreal offices and Montreal’s municipal court, will be closed. However, garbage and recycling pickups will follow their usual schedules.

Provincial and federal government offices will be closed.

Most banks will be closed on Monday and some banks that are regularly open on Sunday will also be closed that day.

Most malls and large stores, including the Montreal Eaton Centre and Galeries d’Anjou, will be open. However, others, such as Place Montréal Trust, will be closed.

Most dépanneurs will be open. Many large grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, bars and small stores will be open — though some may be closed and others may have special holiday hours.

Most SAQ locations will be open. However, the customer service centre will be closed.

Many public arenas, swimming pools, libraries, sports centres and cultural centre will be closed, while others will be open or have special hours. For details and schedules, check with your borough or with the facilities directly.

Jean-Talon Market will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., while the Atwater and Maisonneuve markets will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The STM will be operating on a holiday schedule. On Monday, RMT (formerly AMT) commuter trains will run on a Sunday schedule on the Vaudreuil-Hudson line, while the St-Jérôme line will follow the weekend schedule. There will be no service on all other lines. There will be no mail collection or delivery. However, postal outlets that are operated by the private sector — like those in pharmacies — will be open if the business is. The Biodôme, Insectarium, Botanical Garden and Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium will be open. The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will be open, while the Pointe-à-Callière Museum will be closed. Regular rates will be charged at parking meters and other paid parking operated by Stationnement de Montréal. However, on-street parking and other publicly-operated paid parking in the Outremont borough will be free.
