It’s flu vaccinatio­n time. Six volunteers per day are needed to help at 42 vaccinatio­n clinic days at various locations in the West Island; a meal is provided if you volunteer over lunch or supper. Please contact Volunteer West Island. Volunteer West Island is actively

looking for volunteers to help us prepare tea sandwiches every second Tuesday of the month from 8 to 11 a.m. This takes place in our very pleasant kitchen in Ste-Anne-deBellevue. All ingredient­s are provided by us, no experience necessary.

Minimum age: 18. An organizati­on in Pointe-Claire that provides support and caring to elderly individual­s in order to break their isolation, is looking for a musician that would be happy to share his or her musical ability on Christmas Day with a group of seniors who find themselves alone on that special day. It would be for only 30 minutes to an hour during the Christmas lunch.

Looking for volunteers to join our handyman program. Volunteers should be able to fix a leaky faucet, replace a door knob, install or take out an AC window unit, etc. This is a service we provide to low-income seniors who live on their own. All volunteers must fill out a background security check, which can be done free of charge at our office in SteAnne-de-Bellevue. An organizati­on located in PointeClai­re that organizes a Friday evening meal for West Island families with young children (aged 1-to-5 years) in order to provide a place to get to know other families in the community. After the meal parents can sit and chat while the children can participat­e in activities. Volunteers are needed to help serve the meal and to help with the children’s activities. Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. Minimum age: 18 and must fill out security check. West Island Citizen Advocacy is a Centraide/WICS community organizati­on that matches volunteer citizens with seniors or with people suffering from a handicap. A Pointe-Claire woman in her 90s could benefit from a female volunteer to help break her isolation. She is fluent in English and Hungarian and enjoys chatting, reading and watching TV.

A senior woman in Dollard suffering from Alzheimer would like to have a female volunteer to offer her social support through home visits and outings. She is physically mobile. A 74-year-old woman living in

Pierrefond­s is in need of an Arabicspea­king female volunteer to offer social and emotional support through home visits and accompanim­ents. She can walk with the help of a walker and only speaks Arabic. A 78-year-old senior Pointe-Claire woman would greatly benefit from a female volunteer to offer social support through home visit and medical accompanim­ents. She is mobile and speaks English and Hindi.
