HELP MAKE THE HOLIDAYS BRIGHTER
The organization embarks on its 63rd annual Holiday campaign with high hopes!
A month from now Sun Youth will be in the midst of its distribution of Holiday food hampers, a tradition that goes back to the beginnings of the organization in 1954. In the early years of Sun Youth, cofounders Sid Stevens and Earl De La Perralle, along with the rest of the gang, limited their efforts to preparing and distributing a handful of food baskets to the neighbourhood families, unbeknownst to them, it would become one of Sun Youth’s main operations decades after. The creation of the organization’s food bank in 1981 was meant to be a temporary measure to counteract the recession but 36 years later, about 27,000 people receive food assistance from the Saint-Urbain street charity on a yearly basis. Sun Youth is still there to help its neighbours but the neighbourhood has now extended to the Greater Montreal area. Some 5000 Sun Youth families are expected to receive a Holiday food hamper this year with brand new toys for their children 12 years and under. The organization is counting on your generosity to accomplish this mission and give these families the chance to have a fresh start in the new year. Contributions at this time of year not only help Sun Youth bring a brighter Holiday season to those families but will also allow the organization to renew its commitment to supporting the greater Montreal community throughout the winter months.
The 37th Basketball Holiday Classic

The games will be held at Concordia University and at École Secondaire Saint-Laurent More details to follow.
