375th celebrations to end with New Year’s Eve party
There will be one final party as part of Montreal’s 375th celebrations. La Finale dans le Vieux-Montréal will say farewell to this year and ring in the New Year on Dec. 31 in Old Montreal.
The festivities are free, beginning at noon with a giant banquet serving up traditional meals. Pea soup, tourtière, “pouding chomeur” and candies will be offered to all attendees, inside and out at Bonsecours Market. Storytellers will recount Montreal’s holiday traditions of old, and musical performances will take place all day long.
The real party starts in the Old Port at 6 p.m., as Montréal en fêtes takes over the Clock Tower Pier and Jacques Cartier Pier, with performances by Mes Aïeux, Daniel Bélanger, Vincent Vallières, Laurence Nerbonne, DJ KXO, Pierre Kwenders, Les DeuxLuxes and DJ Sabrina Sabotage.
After midnight, Montreal’s goodtimes crew Champion et ses GStrings take over to keep the outdoor dance floor going until 2 a.m.
There will be fireworks, bien sûr, and the Jacques Cartier Bridge will be lit up with a special light show courtesy of Moment Factory and Atomic3.
“This past year has been full of emotions, allowing Montrealers to rediscover their city, their history, traditions and people,” Mayor Valérie Plante said.
