Avoid Turcot amid closures due to work

- Postmedia News

Highways 720 W. and 20 W. will be completely closed between Exit 5 (Robert-Bourassa Blvd./A-10 Bonaventure/Champlain Bridge) in the Ville-Marie Tunnel and the temporary access ramp at Ste-Annede-Bellevue Blvd. (Montreal West interchange) from 11:59 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The shutdown is necessitated by the demolition of the original infrastructure of the Turcot Interchange, work that is expected to close the same stretches of highway for as long as 20 weekends.

As a consequence of those road closures, the ramp from northbound Décarie Expressway to Highway 20 W. is also closed, as are the exits on the southbound Décarie Expressway accessing Highway 20 W. and Highway 720 E. to downtown.

The ramp on Highway 20 E. for Highway 720 E. to downtown is also closed.

Traffic disruptions caused by work on the Turcot are also expected to exacerbate slowdowns on Highway 15 S. leading to the Champlain Bridge, where traffic flow will be reduced to one lane between the Atwater exit and the access for GaétanLaberge Blvd. beginning Friday at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday.

The reduction in capacity is due to ongoing work on the new Champlain Bridge.

And finally, one lane of the Montreal bound Mercier Bridge (Highway 138 E.) will be closed between 3 a.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday as repairs are carried out on the deck of the span.
