Thief drugs elderly victims, burglarizes their homes
Montreal police investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating a man in connection with a series of thefts in seniors’ homes.
The burglaries took place in December, mainly in Pointe-aux-Trembles, Rivière-des-Prairies and Dorval boroughs. Police are also looking for potential victims.
According to investigators, the suspect approaches elderly and vulnerable women in their homes by talking to them at the door, or just outside their homes, and uses kindness and charm to get himself invited inside. He then offers his victims food containing a substance that makes them lose consciousness. When they wake up, victims realize they have been burglarized, but have no memory of what happened.
The suspect is a white man with a slightly tanned complexion, about 45 to 50 years old, possibly European, of medium height, slender build and with a shaved head. He was wearing a black tuque and a light, black coat. He is anglophone and speaks French with an accent.
Anyone who believes they have been a victim or who knows someone who may have been a victim should go to their neighbourhood police station or contact 911 to file a formal complaint.
Anyone with information that could identify and locate the suspect can contact Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133 or online at infocrimemontreal.ca/en/ make-a-report. The information will be treated anonymously and confidentially.
