Top-secret Toyota awaits showgoers

- NEIL VORANO

Winter is full on with the cold temperatures and dumps of snow, so an auto show is a perfect way to while away your time indoors.

Being the first Canadian motor show on the calendar, the Montreal International Auto Show is a good opportunity for automakers to keep the heat on their new wares by introducing them to the Canadian public right after the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The Montreal show is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2018 and is open to the public from Jan. 19 to 28. It will once again take place in the Palais des congrès de Montréal and will be the largest indoor exhibition in Québec with more than 365,000 square feet of car goodness.

Filling that space will be close to 70 exhibitors, 41 automakers and an estimated 600 vehicles to see. There will be almost 40 vehicles making their Canadian debuts and Toyota will even have a North American debut that will be kept top secret until the doors open.

General admission is $16, children ages six to 12 (accompanied by an adult) are $6, while children five and under are free. Students and seniors 65 and over pay $13, while a family package (two general admission and two children) is $38.

Doors are open from 10 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. every day except the last, when the show ends at 6 p.m.

The easiest way to get to the show is with the Metro, stopping at Place-d’Armes — you won’t even have to go outside!

If you drive, there are several parking lots, both indoors and outdoors, around the facility.
