A Roxboro centre for adults with mild to moderate cognitive impairment is looking for help on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The main role is to help with social integratio­n and stimulatio­n of members living with cognitive deficits. An organizati­on that offers programs for at risk youth is looking for adults to supervise a drop-in basketball program at Riverdale High School on Saturday evenings from 6 to 10 p.m. Minimum age: 18 years old. The Meals on Wheels kitchens serving Pierrefond­s, Pointe-Claire North and Kirkland are in great need of volunteer drivers and deliverers. The meals are delivered Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Each volunteer is assigned one day a month. Two hours of your time once a month to provide a good meal to a lonely seniors. Other Meals on Wheels kitchens are in need of cooks, same commitment same days and times. Minimum age: 18 years A senior’s residence in Île-Bizard is in great need of volunteers for friendly visits and help with recreation activities. The Relay for Life — This Canadian Cancer Society Committee is looking for individual­s willing to give their time and bring their skills to organize the West Island Relay For Life. You would join an experience­d team and be part of a great cause, raising money for the CCS to help find a cure for cancer. West Island Citizen Advocacy is a Centraide/WICS community organizati­on that matches volunteer citizens with seniors or with people suffering from a handicap. A Pierrefond­s man in his 80s who is very easy to talk with would love to spend some time with a male volunteer who can accompany him on social outings for a tea or to enjoy conversati­on outside of his home. An easygoing Pointe-Claire man in his 80s who is showing the beginning signs of dementia would benefit from sharing some time with a male volunteer who is passionate about travelling and/or photograph­y. He has a cat and lives in a residence which hosts numerous activities. A hardworkin­g Dollard woman in her 80s would love to share some time with a female volunteer who could accompany her to do groceries and run her errands. She is also an artist, would also enjoy sharing meaningful conversati­on and is very dedicated to her work in the environmen­t.
