An Île-Bizard man was sleeping when he was awakened by someone pounding on the exterior walls of his home and the smashing of a window at the front of the house just after 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 11. When he heard two male voices, speaking French, the man locked the bedroom door and called 911. Montreal Police Const. Daniel Maheu from Station 3 said that, when officers arrived at the home on Du Pont St., they found the back door unlocked. During their search of the house, they discovered the man in his bedroom. The living room had been ransacked.

ILLEGAL SALES APPROACH

Police from Station 3 are warning residents of Île-Bizard-SteGeneviève and PierrefondsRoxboro about a company going door-to-door selling heating and cooling systems. This activity is illegal without a proper permit. The company has been warned it’s breaking a municipal bylaw. Police are asking anyone who receives a visit to call 911 immediately. ARMED ROBBERY FOILED An attempted armed robbery was foiled in Pierrefonds on Valentine’s Day at around 5 p.m. On Feb. 14, a 25-year-old man who had been using his computer while riding the 470 bus along Pierrefonds Blvd. was followed off the bus by a suspect with a knife. The suspect grabbed him from behind and pressed the knife into his side. The victim grabbed the suspect’s arm and a fight ensued, with the suspect lunging at the victim with his knife and demanding, in English, that the victim hand over his bag. The victim pinned the suspect to the ground, but when passersby approached, the suspect escaped. The victim was slightly injured. Police advise against fighting back against an armed robber and urge people to keep their electronics tucked away while on public transit.
