Feeling robbed by daylight saving time, I want my hour back

In fact, I’d like all of the hours that have been stolen from me annually each spring to be returned to me with interest. I’ve set up a daylight saving time (DST) account whereby hours owed to me can be deposited and withdrawn for future personal use by me, whenever, and however I like. Similar to a tax refund or a GST credit, I’d like a DST credit. Hours owed to me are to be deposited in my newly activated DST account so that I can access them online or at any ATM, at any hour. By my calculation I am owed 57 hours, or one hour for each year that I have been taxed under the DST model, plus compounded interest. With compounded interest calculated hourly at DST bank rates, there is now a balance owed to me of 5,700 hours. I anticipate that a timely spring-forward approach to payment will be made to my DST account within my stated terms of payment. That is, all balances are due within 60 minutes to avoid additional interest and administration charges. As for any notion that any unused hours remaining in my DST account will be credited back to DST authorities in November under a fall back scenario, forget it, I’ll have slept them off or moved them to an offshore DST account by then. I’ve yet to understand just how one saves daylight by taking away an hour, so why call it daylight saving time? It’s lunacy, I tell you. Are your clocks still running on old time? You know, the time that existed before this past Sunday at 2 a.m.? Is your circadian rhythm out of whack suddenly? How do you feel about losing an hour each and every year as spring approaches? And it’s not just humans in households that are affected by daylight saving time measures. Pets want to know why they have to get out of bed one hour earlier, too. Why are you feeding us so early while it’s still dark out, they ask? Wikipedia says that while the times of sunrise and sunset change at roughly equal rates as the seasons change, proponents of daylight saving time argue that most people prefer a greater increase in daylight hours after the typical workday. Supporters have also argued that DST decreases energy consumption by reducing the need for lighting and heating, but the actual effect on overall energy use is controversial and disputed. There are claims that those who complain about daylight saving time are in the minority. Do you disagree, or agree with that statement? How does daylight saving time or DST affect your daily and nightly routines? Do you find yourself suddenly sleepless since moving the clocks forward by an hour this past weekend? Do you embrace daylight saving time, deplore it, or simply couldn’t care either way?
