An Île-Bizard woman’s purse was stolen from her car during the few minutes she left the vehicle to collect her mail from a community mailbox, March 12.

Montreal police Const. Daniel Maheu from Station 3 said the woman placed her purse on the front seat of the car after paying for her meal at a fast-food restaurant in Kirkland. On her way home, the 78-year-old stopped at a community mailbox at the corner of Cherrier St. and Du Manoir Ave. in Île-Bizard. She noticed a white car pull up behind her vehicle. When she returned to the car, she checked her rear-view mirror before pulling out to drive home and noticed a young man standing outside the white car. It was only after arriving home that she noticed her purse was gone. She described the driver of the car as a white man in his 50s with a moustache and the young man as in his 20s.

Two people gained access to a bar in Roxboro by using an axe to break the front door in the wee hours of March 15. The alarm sounded at 4:48 a.m. When police arrived, they saw the door was broken and the cash register was dangling from the counter. The cash drawer was gone. One suspect is described as white, wearing a black, hooded jacket with a white zipper and ripped jeans. He was carrying the axe and ripped out the drawer. The second suspect — a man or a woman — was wearing a red coat and black pants. Anyone with information is asked to call Info-Crime (514-393-1133).
